Le Corbusier LC2 Petite Three-Seat Sofa - Modern Designer Furniture for Living Room, Office & Lounge - Premium Leather & Chrome Frame

Le Corbusier designed the original Petite Lounge Chair (LC2) collection based on the human scale. A strong advocate of Modernism, Le Corbusier created a range of Petite Lounge Chairs (LC2) that express his ideas with great sophistication. Mrs. Heidi Weber of Zurich first put the Le Corbusier Petite Lounge collection into production in 1959. With his the approval, she changed the appearance of this chair and added this three seat sofa. She removed the spring mechanism and used fabricating methods which allowed the frame to be chromed. She also gave the cushions a more formal, tailored look. Her contribution to the re-design of the collection was instrumental in the commercial success of the collection.

Though Le Corbusier designed furniture that is considered timeless, he used many simple bentwood furniture pieces from Thonet for the interiors of his architectural designs.  Such items as the B9 Bentwood Armchair were used by Le Corbusier in such buildings as the Villa de la Rocca, and even in his own home near Stuttgart, Germany.  It was the combination of form, function, and economy of materials that appealed to the designer.  Later in his career, Le Corbusier’s tubular steel furniture would be sold through this same company.

The LC2 Petite Three Seat Sofa featured on this page is hand made by craftsmen in Tuscany Italy.  Using only techniques available to Le Corbusier, this three-seat sofa is made in the same fashion one would have found decades ago.  It is through these labor-intensive techniques that we are able to provide a quality reproduction of this important piece of furniture history.
