The Mies van der Rohe Round Cocktail Table (MR140) was first displayed in 1927 at the renown Weissenhof housing development in Germany. In 1930 it was featured at the Tugendhat house in Brno, though this version used flat steel rather than round tubular steel.

Mies' MR140 table is one of his first creations using round tubular steel.  The most striking feature is the "upturned table" structure.  First designs used black glass, other colored glass and even lacquered wood to match Mies van der Rohe architectural creations.  The cross at the base offers a great amount of stability.

This table is often used as a side or lounge table, though it makes a stunning accent table as well.
