The IJhorst Side Tables were designed in 1953 by artist Constant Nieuwenhuys. The slender frame and simple design language make this a timeless design that is loved by lovers of vintage design. The IJhorst tables are characteristic of a turning point in Constant's oeuvre, marking the transition from his Cobra years to the start of his New Babylon project.
The black epoxy-coated base of the tables is formed by the construction of thin wire steel that elegantly displays pressure and tensile forces. The characteristic chassis fits perfectly with the spirit of the fifties and still looks modern. Designers such as Charles & Ray Eames and an artist like Naum Gabo used a similar clear line play in which construction and aesthetics coincide.
The top is available with an American walnut veneer or with matt laminate (ruby gray or black).
